Okay, I snuck a peek at everyones responses. I'm sure I came in last. Everyone else had their drink, danced a victory dance, and possibly had a pedicure before I came around the corner. And....
I DON'T CARE!
Why? Because I RAN FIVE MILES! Okay, there was some walking in there. But I finished and it feels ahhhmazing.

Thank you. Thank you very much.
When I was thinking about goals for the race I originally thought fifteen minute miles. Then I reminded myself that I rarely hit three miles so just finishing five miles is an accomplishment all on it's own. So I thought, if I have to walk it perhaps a twenty minute mile is more realistic. Know your limitations, ya know. My final "pace" (I think it's hysterical to call it that when others are posting nine minute miles) was 16:35! With some training, I'm sure I can hit the fifteen minute mark next month. Who knows, by the time June rolls around I'll be at the ten minute mark. And maybe even go outside where there are actual people. Gasp!
FYI...this also means I completed race one of Thirteen in Twenty-Thirteen.

Menu Plan
This week is going to be old favorites as we need to eat what's in the cabinet. Eating healthy and saving money. Yes we can do both.
Breakfast: can you guess? You can? Yes! It is blueberry/spinach/banana smoothies. Do I ever get tired of eating the same thing? No! This smoothie combo is also a favorite of Janetha of Meals & Moves. My goal is to have abs like hers. And I'll never get tired of people telling me how awesome my abs are when they come in so I'll never tire of this breakfast. FYI: My body fat is down 1.5% since last Sunday. Score one for the smoothie!
Lunch: salad, salad, and salad. No cheese because I'm out. But that's okay, I don't need dairy anyway. For the hubs, he has some of the homemade chicken and brown rice soup. We really are creatures of habit over here.
Dinner: Tilapia, sweet potatoes (although I'll have to change the toppings based on what I have), my world famous, okay, just in my house, roast lemon pepper chicken and potatoes, maybe some breakfast for dinner...pancakes anyone? Basically, click the Recipe page and something on there is bound to be on our dinner plate this week. Once it hits Thursday and the paycheck gets deposited then anything goes. :)
And of course...tons of vegan homemade Krispy Kreme donuts for the hubs.

Small Talk:
Did you watch Biggest Loser...what did you think? What are your pantry basics so you can always get through a tight week? If I dress like a runner does that make me a runner? hahaha!

If you move your legs like a runner, you're a runner. Don't worry about your pace! 5 miles is a great accomplishment. Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I was hoping the challenge would inspire people who have not gone 5 miles to go for it... you did great! And have such a great attitude. I can't wait to see where you're at by June!
ReplyDeleteHoly crud. I knew it was your first time running 5 miles, but didn't know it was your first race! Happy dance. I am literally shaking I am so excited for you (we runners are crazy like that).
ReplyDeleteI think just being able to run all 5 miles is a great goal. Don't worry about speed just enjoy improving a little bit every time.
Vegan Krispy Kreme? I never expected to read those words together LOL!
ReplyDeleteIf you run you're a runner. Dressing cute makes you cute runner :) Congrats on your first of 13 in 2013! My first trail race is this weekend.
