It's the 80s Up In Here #MenuPlanMonday Week of 1/14/13

Today I went to my mom's house to help her out with some things. We talked about working out. I'm going to get one of those walking DVDs so I can do it with her when I'm there. I'm sure she'll keep it up as she can throughout the week. While I was there I found these:

Yes, these bad boys are my very first set of weights. From high school. They make me want to wear a striped leotard and leg warmers. Honestly, before school I always did Denise Austin but when I babysat the little girls mom had Jane Fonda. I admit it. I worked out when I was babysitting. It taught her life skills. That's what I'm going with.

I finally finished watching Spirit of the Marathon on Netflix. I've been watching it while on the treadmill. It made me cry like a little girly baby. Good thing I am a little girly baby. If you're a runner and haven't watched this, it is a must. Not an option. A must. I know it's from 2007 but it's level of awesomeness is unreal. I even caught myself thinking "I want to do this one day." I must be wackadoodle.

Menu Plan Monday

Remember last Monday when I said I couldn't wait until Thursday because it was pay day and we could buy some groceries? So, I looked in the pantry and fridge at about 6:00 pm on Sunday and discovered we still don't have groceries. Apparently the grocery part is not an automatic deposit.

Breakfast: smoothies, what else? Really, I can't imagine anything better. On Sunday I did try the Nutiva Organic Hemp Seed from the January Conscious Box in my smoothie. Loved it! The smoothie turned out even thicker than my normal flax seed. I do have some strawberries so I might take blueberries out of the mix a few days and replace it with strawberry.

Lunches: Well, I have enough almond butter, All Fruit, and Sandwich Thins for a week so that'll do me

Snacks: I'll be eating out of the January Conscious Box for snacky poos. It'll be a great opportunity for me to try them out. Plus, I do love me some vegan eats. (Except the Peeled Snacks, I ate those already and still don't like them. The only dried fruit I've ever liked is Funky Monkey.)

Dinner: There's some tuna in there so I'll have that. No mayo. I'll make it the healthy way with olive oil, lemon juice, etc. etc.

But I must admit, I should probably stop writing this post and go grocery shopping. Having a plan is critical in achieving health goals. That includes plans for workouts, plans for eating, and goal planning. Off to get some veggies...because they are clearly missing from this plan.

BTW: In my blogging dreams, I'm giving you full menus with a printable grocery list. Let's save that one for next year.

Small Talk:

What is your favorite workout DVD of all time? Have you seen Spirit of the Marathon? Peeled Snacks or Funky Monkey?

  1. I remember laughing when you did the Denise Austin videos. Now I do fitness videos and EA Sports Active.
Lesson: Don't laugh at the things your mom does. Chances are, you'll end up doing them yourself when you have kids.

  2. You were totally a far better babysitter than I ever was! I would put the kids to bed 1/2 hour early and watch hours of mindless TV while eating the home owner's snacks! ;)

  5. I'm so curious about the Conscious Box but haven't had a chance to look into it. My favorite DVD of all time is P90X. Love Tony and the workouts!

I agree! Spirit of the Marathon is a must for all runners.
