Lean Cuisine Culinary Collection #Review

I don't eat frozen meals much any more because I'm very conscientious of my sodium intake. When I did, I honestly tended to gravitate towards Lean Cuisine. Recently I was offered up a chance to try the Lean Cuisine Culinary Collection and I thought it would be a great opportunity to be reintroduced.

First on my list...find a Lean Cuisine with the fab logo picked above. Why? Because they were created by some of the hottest and hippest Chef's out there. So you know it should taste good. The other priority...keep the sodium level at or lower than 500 mg. I was amazed at how easy it was to accomplish my mission. My only complaint is that there were not any vegetarian options that fit my sodium criteria   I actually received a couple of coupons but I'll tell you about my very first tasting experience. Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce.

First let's talk about the sodium content. Since it's important to me, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice easy 490! And even better, if you're a calorie counter, a low 230. You'll be hard pressed to find other foods with this level of protein (19 grams) and low calories.

I happened to be on my way to my moms when I used my freebie coupons for the Lean Cuisine. I went to her house and put them in the freezer while we did a walking workout. I'd already run five miles that day and the extra two mile walk just threw my stomach into hunger mode. I looked around and honestly the Lean Cuisine Chef's Pick sounded the best and it gave me plenty of protein to replenish my body after all that hard work.

I forgot to save the directions but it took less than seven minutes to get some food in my belly. Because frozen meals come in containers that you can safely cook in, I took mine out and put it in a pretty white bow. It just makes the experience that much better.

First off, the smell alone was amazing! As attested by my mother repeatedly mentioning it while I was eating the Chicken with Basil Cream Sauce. The meal was creamy and warm. As I bit into the pasta I noticed a smooth, cheesy taste. That's because the full description is a "grilled white meat chicken over cheese tortellini with Italian green beans, red bell peppers & yellow carrots". How did I miss that this had a cheese tortellini? All the better! The vegetables were slightly crisp but no so underdone. I personally don't like my veggies super crispy when they are cooked so they were just right.

Overall, I felt really great about my experience with the Lean Cuisine Culinary Collection. I even had one at work later that week for lunch. Quick, easy, good, and filling!

Small Talk:

Have you tried Lean Cuisine Culinary Collection? Which is your favorite or which do you want to try?

I have partnered with Lean Cuisine through DailyBuzz Food to help promote their new line of Chef's Pick products. I have been compensated for my time commitment to work with this product. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments. Thank you Lean Cuisine!

  1. I adore Lean Cuisines. I use them whenever I'm in a bind and I don't have time to make something for lunch. I like so many of them, but my all time favorite is Beef Portabello. I haven't tried the culinary collection yet...but I will now that you've given it a thumbs up!

  2. I haven't tried any of them. These meals never seem to fill me up! My Mother takes them everyday for lunch though, I might just follow and get her coupons and be a good little daughter:)

  3. I'm with Joi, the don't fill me up! Plus, they don't really have any vegan GF options so it kind of rules them out for me anyways.

  5. I love lean cuisine. Always have some in my freezer as backup. You make the one you tried sound sooo good. In my freezer right now is chicken cranberry apple (have not tried yet), but I love the parmesan crusted chicken and chicken parmesan (humm, do you see a trend) and the lasagna when I splurge. Add a vege or salad and you are completely satisfied.
