2/23/14: The Skinny

I feel like it’s been forever since I connected with you on The Skinny. I’m so glad that the flu is over but I still don’t feel like the same person. It may or may not have anything to do with the flu.

Jason’s disability hearing is Tuesday. I pray that it goes well. I also ask that you do the same. Pretty please. Speaking of praying, I used to feel like I’d tell people I’d pray and it was an empty promise because I don’t keep a prayer journal. Now if I say I’m going to pray for someone I do it right then. Problem solved. Prayer given.

On the fitness front, it’s supposed to hit a high of 41 today so I’m going to watch the weather like a hawk and see if I can get out for a run at the high. I have a 5K (minimum) on my list and it will count for #14in2014. Yesterday I was late for my appointment with Kristy Lee yesterday (yes, in my home) so I scheduled another session for next weekend. Are you Welloing?

That’s The Skinny on what’s going on this week. Now let’s talk about The Skinny that inspires me out in blogland.

The Skinny #theskinny on what's going on in my world

I really like this pantry from Young House Love because of the way it’s organized. Mine needs some serious help. I’m hoping that I can pull mine together before the end of the year. Plus with four different people with four different eating patterns, I really need to divide our things out so I can find what I want.

Elise from 9toFit shared this Chewy Dark Chocolate Banana and Peanut Butter Bars recipe. The only thing I need to change is the milk. Yum!

Amber shared this Crockpot Chicken Noodle Soup, it looks so hearty! I don’t know what I’m going to do about noodles now though.

Here’s a Delicious Kale Smoothie for Beginners.

The Esthetic Goddess really has great skin at 49 (I would have never, ever guessed) and she shares some anti-aging products that really work.

I would have never thought to pair these patterns together but after seeing it all pulled together I just love it. See how you like gingham and leopard together.

In general I’ve stopped putting so much emphasis on blogging and reading all the blogging tip posts. However, Andrea is one of the few people who takes great indoor fashion photos. Since I’ve developed an extreme shopping habit the last couple of weeks I have some things to show you. These tips on getting bright pictures indoors should help.

A thought for your week…

thank you

Thanks so much, Tamara! The hearing went really well. I really loved that post. Thought it was excellent…and she was very clear about her skills which was nice.

Thank you, Marcia! Jason’s hearing went really well. I don’t know if I could pull off that look either but it’s fun to see what others come up with.

With Jason’s disability hearing on Tuesday, that may have you feeling a bit down, maybe kinda flu like? I will and have prayed that it goes in the right direction. I don’t keep a prayer journal, I would be to overwhelmed! When a prayer is needed, I pray and many hear that! I have 2 Personal Trainers! One is Candy Corn and the other is Betty Boo! Our 2 Westie Girls, price is right walk them 4 times a day 20 minutes = 80 min. cardio! And all the face licks are FREE! Hugs to you and have a great week! (last one for February!)

It could be that, Kim. Luckily things went really well. Walking fur babies can be quite a workout! I’ve read before that people with dogs are thinner.

    Carla,
So sorry to hear you’re still not feeling well, the flu and meds are tough on your body! It may be a bit until you feel better again! Give yourself time, and focus on eating lots of nutritent dense foods!

Speaking of food, thank you for sharing my recipe :)
As for noodles, you can use:
rice noodles, zoodles, spaghetti squash, gluten free pasta, rice, quinoa, plenty of options!

I am sending you positive vibes about the hearing <3

And some smiles and a hug <3 xox

You’re welcome, I love to share Amber! I need to look at Walmart and see if they have anything other than regular noodles. I may have to start heading up to the Trader Joe’s by my work.

Thank you, Bev! Things went great. I actually had a psychologist tell me that I pray too much one time. I thought that was the weirdest thing ever. I stopped seeing him after that.

I’m sorry you got hit with the flu – no fun. :( I always love your round ups on The Skinny, looking forward to checking these out. I don’t have a personal trainer (cos I am one!) but I do have a running coach. I also have a program I write for myself for strength training. And every now and again I do one of my clients’ workouts to see how tough it’s going to be, if I think i may be progressing them too quickly.

I am also a personal trainer, Carly! I know lots of trainers that have trainers. :) I like to do my client’s workouts before I give them to them but sometimes I forget how they might feel vs. me so it’s not always the best measure.

You can do it, Jennifer! Take it one day at a time, a few minutes at a time. Maybe get a pare of skinnies a size or two smaller than you are now and hang them up where you can see them. :)

I wish I had read this earlier, Carla! I pray that Jason’s hearing went well. I’ll still be praying for you guys, however, and I agree that praying right away eliminates the prospect of an empty promise to pray later.

I love the purple skinny jeans! I’m a big fan of purple. Esthetic Goddess is on to something with those products! I will be doing some further research on them. Any help with skin is greatly welcomed. And the pantry makeover is the bomb. I love to see people use space optimally!

Alison, thank you so much. The hearing went very well and our attorney feels very positive about everything. We just need to wait for the letter and see what it says.

I love purple as well. Can’t you tell? hehe! I do want to look further into her suggestions, I’m just concerned about affordability. But I have a better understanding of everything skin care now.

The kale is great in a smoothie! It really isn’t much different than spinach and with the right ingredients you may not even taste it at all.

Oh, no! I can’t take much more snow this winter. We did have a few really cold days and a little snow this week. Now it’s going to be in the 50s tomorrow. Crazy!
