Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette

I love makeup. If you read my short Facebook profile it says “Fitness fanatic (sometimes), chip lover (all the time), crazy cat lady. If my house catches fire, I’ll get the cat and my makeup.” Its said that since I moved my old Facebook fan page to the Real Into fan page. No point in changing the flat out truth. So I was very excited when I was selected to review the Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette.

When I got it, I was even more excited. I was really expecting one of those flimsy little cardboard things that only has a touch of makeup. When I picked up the package it was heavy. This makeup palette weighs in at almost half a pound! It is also magnetized so that there is no chance of your precious makeup falling onto the floor.

In the case are instructions of how to apply the makeup for a smokey eye. It also gives you a subtle option and a darker option. I went for subtle because I was afraid that too much dark color on my skin would be too much. Especially since I was only going Black Friday shopping (or maybe it was totally called for because a guy walked up to my car and directed me to a parking spot while everyone else was driving around aimlessly).

before and after

The colors were perfect for my skin tone and have real staying power.  These shimmery powder shades are great for creating a dramatic eye for the evening. I love the golden glimmer and frost shades the best and may even figure out how to incorporate them into my day look. They really bring out the eyes. The snowy glow blush is wonderful for giving your skin a younger fresher look. This is the only color palette for the holiday smokey eye but I believe it would work for most skin tones as you also have the darker coal and platinum colors in there as well.

You do need to use your own brushes with the product but if you happen to be a Studio Gear groupie there are suggestions as to which brush to use and exactly where. (I’m in need of some new brushes so…). I try to be balanced in my reviews but right now I really can’t think of anything I didn’t like about the Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smokey Eye Palette.

I’d never heard of Studio Gear before but now I’m kind of addicted to browsing their website and making wishlists of all the things I would love to have. Right now this palette it is on sale for $25 and I think it is a fab deal.

Small Talk:

Have you ever tried Studio Gear Cosmetics? Are you doing special makeup for holiday parties?

I received this product to review from Brandbacker. No other compensation was received. I was not required to write a positive review. Or look pretty when finished. But I did. And it got me a parking spot. Ha!

I am not a big makeup girl, but if I am going to do it, I LOVE to play with eye shadow! I actually have about 7 different eye shadow brushes so I am primed and ready to work! I’ve never tried studio gear, but it looks awesome. I have to put a few things on a Christmas list for me, and this will be one of them. A shade to give my skin a younger fresher look–I’m in!! –Lisa

Eye shadow is the best way to really change your look. Especially if you’re not comfortable withe dark or bright lipsticks. I need 7 eye shadow brushes! I lost my favorite one in Chicago and I’ve not replaced it.

The younger women now seem to have the makeup down. I learned to put my makeup on in the 80s and lets just say trying to keep up is not the easiest. Most days I just have mascara, eyeliner, and chap stick.

I know you love makeup Nellie! I bet you could show me how to get the smokey eye much better. I don’t think I’m that good but it has directions and I tried.

I have to have mascara and eye liner or I look like I’m sick! I only do the extra eye shadows for special occasions. Which this day was Thanksgiving shopping. LOL!

Your eyes look GORGEOUS and just POP with those colors! I love eye palettes that are designed to highlight and contour and bring out color. Great info and great way to show how effective the shadows work!
