L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream

Recently I was selected by Shespeaks to test the L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream. Let me just start by saying that I had no idea that B.B. cream is a "thing". Maybe I should stop flipping through my beauty magazines and actually read them.

In the '60s B.B. stood for Blemish Balm, now (I believe) it's known more as beauty balm. But let me tell you in their own words so then I can break it down (hit it! Goes a little something like this)....

About L'Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream: This product gives the sheer coverage needed to create a natural bare skin finish, while delivering built-in skincare benefits. With four beautifying actions, this all-in-one innovation primes and smoothes, perfects to hide flaws, hydrates all-day, and corrects and evens skin. The product is infused with skincare ingredients like Panthenol, Vitamin E and Glycerin for 24-hour moisturization.

"Sheer coverage". To me that may be a dirty word. I always think I want sheer but I'm an 80s girls.I like my makeup. It takes quite a bit to get the amount of coverage that I want...plus I always think it's hard to judge without the full makeup and hair done. But because I'm so lazy such a dedicated blogger I took these pics in my jammies while writing this post.

Priming and smoothing. When I think of primer I think of something you wear under your makeup and I think this would be a good primer, although I've tended to wear it by itself. My skin feels smooth. With the makeup on. More on that later.

Hides flaws. Based on the before and after pic, I'd say it does that pretty well. Honestly before I put the pics side to side I was going to say it does not. I'm an 80s girl and I like my makeup. But pictures don't lie. Unless they're touched up. :)

This does hydrate all day. To the point that I should be avoiding it. I have combination skin and I find that this really makes my face a little oily in the T-Zone. And not the normal oily but the uncomfortable kind where you run to the bathroom to blot and put on more powder. But yes, I've still been wearing it every day for two weeks.

I would not say that my skin tone has been corrected or evened. Unless they only mean while wearing the makeup. But all makeup is supposed to do that while you're wearing it. Right.

Let's talk texture. It's gritty and weird. Which feels a little odd going on. But it does quickly solved and then your skin is honestly left feeling smooth and silky. My understanding is that the grittiness is the beads that break open and match to your skin color.  Which it clearly does very nicely. I'm thinking I should have gotten light instead of fair. Yes?

Cost and availability. At $10.95 for 1 fl oz, I personally don't think that's bad. Makeup is one of the few areas where I'll spend a little more. You can also get it just about anywhere as it's at the mass food and drug retailers.

  1. I have only recently been aware of BB cream. I think someone advertises it on TV....maybe it's this one? Weird to hear it's gritty going on. I wouldn't expect that.
