Good Vibrations

Good Vibrations

Tonight I met my running coach for the first time. Yes, I said my running coach! It all started with Yokasta read my proclamation to run the RNR Half in St. Louis and my call for help. She contacted me on Facebook and offered up her husband Tim, an RRCA certified running coach, in exchange for write ups. Yes, please!

I was so comfortable during my chat with Tim that I began telling him my wildest craziest running dreams. Like running a ten minute mile and completing 14 in 2014. Tim looked at me and said that we have plenty of time and he can get me to a 10 minute mile by the time of RNR. I think my heels must have been really high today. I feel like I threw out some crazy challenge and he took the bait. Now don’t get me wrong, I know I have to put in the work to get to this goal but without a coach there is no way that I’d ever be able to do this. What seems like plenty of time for many of you feels like not so much time for a beginning runner like me. I’m so glad that I have a resource to get me there! If I make it I may cry. Just telling you know so you can be prepared.

My homework for this weekend is to send Tim the list of 14 races I want to race next year. I have a few in mind but I want to make sure I get all the details and distances right.

In other awesome news, this weekend Matthew (my 2yo grandson) called me Mimi. It’s the first time he’s referred to me by name! And Anna (the baby) let me hold her without crying. Jeffrey let Izzy pet him and didn’t hiss or bat at any of the children even once. In case you are wondering, this was our monthly get together. We have not missed a month since I started this and I really enjoy getting the family together like this. We also celebrated Jessi’s fourth birthday.

In blogging news, I was featured on Blogher this week! I considered making the “Featured on Blogher” logo into my header but I thought one more change might drive you all crazy. I’m still considering a tattoo.

Congratulations on the BlogHer feature!! I think a tattoo is TOTALLY the way to go! :D
I am so excited for you and your running coach. Sometimes it just takes that little bit of extra expertise and support to get you right where you want to be. I know you will be a phenomenon! You’ll get to that 10 minute mile in no time!!
All that and a great time with the grandkids?! Sounds like a fantastic week, Mimi!! :) –Lisa

I almost thought about a tramp stamp but that is just going a little too far. Wouldn’t you say?

I am totally excited about having a running coach. I know nothing about running and it’s a great opportunity.

The girls started the Mimi thing and I like it much better than being a gma!

I would love to do something like the conference but I don’t know that I’ll be able to come up with the money. Especially with all the runs I have on my list.

All the best with your coach! I’m embarrassed to admit this but I’ve never felt ‘worthy’ of a running coach. I’d love one going into NYCM year though. Maybe you’ve inspired me….
    Congrats on the BlogHer feature!

Congrats on being featured on BlogHer! I actually would agree with you about needing a coach. I am actually doing better with even normal workouts because my personal trainer of a hubby is working with me. Too cute that you all have set aside time each month for you to be with the grandkids! Mimi sounds so adorable! I bet your heart melted when he said it! xo

Thanks, Brittnei! A coach can help with so many different things but people are afraid to reach out for help.

I did almost melt! He has not warmed up to me as much as the older two girls so I’m glad he’s finally starting to take to me. :)

That’s an awesome goal. You are so lucky to have a running coach. I was considering it for my first half but I think financially I will stick with Run Less, Run Faster book I bought. You will do it for sure! Congrats on the BlogHer feature! That’s really cool! About the tattoo, go for it! I have two and want more. I love them!

I’ve never heard of that book, Kristina. I’ll have to check it out.

I don’t see myself actually getting a tattoo. I’m not opposed to them and I actually quite like them but I’m allergic to metals and even have to be very careful when getting a shot so I’ve avoided it.

Awesome, awesome about BlogHer!! I love them. My good vibrations were few and far between because today was a lousy, cranky day but Des handed me his shoes and said, “Here you go!” I was stunned and so was Scarlet. He’s having a 17 month language explosion and I can’t keep up.
